American Heart Month

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. You can make healthy changes to lower your risk of developing heart disease. Controlling and preventing risk factors is also important for people who already have heart disease. To lower your risk:

  • Watch your weight.

  • Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.

  • Control your cholesterol and blood pressure.

  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.

  • Get active and eat healthy.

School-Based Health Care Awareness Month

The C.A.M.P. (Counseling and Medical Place) is a school-based health center that provides medical and mental health services should students need them. The C.A.M.P. is centrally located at Newberry High School, Room 170. This makes it easy for students to access health services without having to leave school.

The CA.M.P. provides services for acute illnesses, chronic conditions, well child exams, sport physicals, immunizations and more.
