COVID-19 Information and Resources
COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, continues to impact communities worldwide. The LMAS District Health Department is committed to providing up-to-date information and resources to help our residents navigate the ongoing situation.
Current Status in Michigan
As of April 30, 2024, following the expiration of the federal mandate, Michigan
hospitals are no longer required to report COVID-19 hospital admissions and capacity data.
Consequently, such data are no longer included in the state’s public dashboards.
However, reported cases and deaths continue to be monitored to provide an overview of trends over time.
Protective Measures
- Vaccination: Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations remains the most effective way to reduce the risk of severe illness. Vaccines are widely available and recommended for all eligible individuals.
- Masking: Wearing masks in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces can significantly reduce the transmission of the virus. This is especially important as asymptomatic individuals can still spread COVID-19.
- Testing: Regular testing helps identify infections early, allowing for prompt isolation and treatment. Testing sites are available throughout Michigan; you can find a nearby
location through the state’s resources. - Treatment: If you test positive for COVID-19, consult healthcare providers about available treatments. Early intervention can mitigate symptoms and reduce the risk of severe outcomes.
